About
This KSAF certified 2-hour CPD programme provides school staff in England with essential training on understanding and improving school attendance through a safeguarding lens. The course explores key statutory guidance, including the School Attendance (Pupil Registration) (England) Regulations 2024 and the Department for Education’s Working together to improve school attendance guidance. Learners will develop a practical understanding of attendance monitoring, professional curiosity, safeguarding indicators, factual record keeping, communication with families, and reintegration planning. The training also examines common barriers to attendance, including Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA), SEND, emotional distress, bullying, poverty, housing instability, young carer responsibilities and family circumstances. Designed for Attendance Officers, pastoral staff, safeguarding teams, inclusion staff and school support professionals, this programme supports learners to identify patterns of concern, respond proportionately, work collaboratively with families and understand when concerns should be escalated. The course reinforces a key principle: Attendance is not just a percentage. It is a safeguarding lens.
